About Cube

What We Do

Cube brings a fresh eye to the property market: spotting potential, seeing what needs to be done, implementing strategies and enhancing value.

Every property - from its original conception through to construction and occupation – has a life cycle, a finite period during which it is fit for purpose. Over time, the demands made on a property, its utility to occupiers and the market in which it exists will change. As circumstances change, in order to maximise the usefulness of a property and the returns from it, new strategies have to be implemented.

Cube specialises in evaluating properties, refocusing their purpose and – through creative asset management – starting them on a new life cycle.

We are able to intervene when a property is coming towards the end of its useful life or has never been exploited to its full potential. So from time to time you'll hear us talking about "broken" or "sleeping" properties – assets that need to be fixed or brought back to life.

While our commitment to ingenuity, energy and imagination is a constant, the solution is always slightly different. For that reason, we'd suggest that to get a real perspective on the Cube approach you take a look at our completed and current projects.

It's the differences in the property challenges that we face which excites us so if you think you have a property that would benefit from our approach, we would love to hear from you.

The Story So Far

Cube Real Estate was formed in 2002 by Stuart Loggie and Chris Oliver to invest in commercial and mixed-use property through direct investment and joint ventures.

In its first year of business, Cube bought six buildings for £21m and created Picasso Investments – a joint-venture with Lehman Brothers. A year later Cube launched Matisse, a partnership with a group of high net worth individuals to invest in traditional commercial property stock.

In less than four years Cube and its partners built up a portfolio worth close to £100m, and from 2003 - 2008, delivered an average return on equity of 60%.

Jonathan Lawes was appointed as a director in 2005 and the company went on to create The Cubemaker Fund. Cubemaker is a £100m UK-focused opportunistic property fund targeted at producing above average total returns through skilful buying, active and imaginative asset management and carefully managed exits. The investors include BP Pension Fund's Ropemaker Properties, Staffordshire County Council Pension Fund and a number of high net-worth individuals.

Cubemaker invests in UK multi-let commercial property investments that offer asset management and capital appreciation prospects. It currently has more than £60m of assets under management and has the capacity to double this.
